At some point the opportunity arose to visit a rum distillery - including a cheerful tasting of several types of rum from this distillery and an extra generous second helping for the "whisky gourmet", who suddenly mutated into a rum lover.
The distillery is called: Engenhos do Norte and is located in Porto da Cruz in the east of the island.
