In an info book in our room, we discovered that individual trike tours are offered. For us it was instantly clear: We have to do this!
There are various tour options — 2, 3, 4, or 6 hours for €80–€180.
In 2023 we opted for a 3-hour ride, where we could decide ourselves where to go and how long to stay at each stop.
Helmets and jackets were provided.
We had a clear idea of what we wanted to see — and João (our driver) accommodated every one of our wishes.
He also made great suggestions, so we ended up with a fully customized ride with him!
At every stop he joined us and gave additional explanations.
This tour is absolutely recommended!
It was simply fantastic to enjoy the hairpin bends with a full 360° view!
Among other places, we visited the “Valley of the Nuns” (Curral das Freiras) — with an incredible view from the surrounding mountains over the small village, which is only accessible through a tunnel.
